10 months

Dear Madison,

10 months old. I just can’t wrap my head around it. In 8 weeks (less time than you were in your cast) we will be celebrating your first birthday party.

I suppose this is the point where I should tell you to stop growing up so fast {which I do daily} and get all misty about where all of the time has gone {again, daily occurrence} but instead all I can think about is how proud I am of you.

You light up a room with your personality and ear to ear grins. Everyone’s first comment to me is how you are always smiling and seem like the happiest baby in the world. The truth is… you are the happiest baby in the world. Always smiling, talking & laughing. Your father and I must have done something right because you are just such a joy to be around.

We are now 7 weeks post cast & I swear you are going to take off crawling any day now. You get down on all fours and can move like lightning backwards but still haven’t figured out how to get things going in the right direction. The best part about it is you never get frustrated. You have figured out the most hilarious way to get around a room… a very intricate series of rolling over, crawling backwards & scooting forwards or side to side on your butt. You are so sly about the whole thing, I won’t even notice you are moving sometimes until I blink and you are on the other side of the room… flashing me that toothy smile.

Speaking of teeth, you have four. Two top, two bottom. Oh & one gigantic, you could drive a truck through it, Michael Strahan/ Lauren Hutton-esque like gap. It is adorable but your father & I already fear for the orthodontic bills we will have to face later in life. Ahhh, the joys of parenthood.

You are still the spitting image of your father but your personality? Kid, that is ALL from your momma. You talk non-stop and are over the top dramatic. Your poor father has his work cut out for him dealing with two of us.

So what are you up to these days?

• Your favorite trick is still clapping hands… you show no interest in waving hi or bye-bye.
• You LOVE to dance. There is nothing cuter than turning on some jams and watching you sway back & forth.
• You love to say “dance, dance, dance.” It is something silly I’ve been saying to you since you were little when I would dance around the living room with you and now you repeat it and dance whenever I do it.
• You say dada all the time and know what it means about 1/2 the time.
• You said mama… once…. when you were repeating what your Nana said.
• You roll all over the living room & are on the verge of crawling.
• You fake laugh and play peak-a-boo like it is going out of style.
• You are the biggest water baby… bath time and going in Nana & Pops’ pool is your favorite.
• You give kisses… wet, open-mouthed kisses and I swear my heart swells every time you lean forward to give me one.
• The johnny jump-up is your new favorite thing, you could stand in the doorway bouncing forever.
• You think sneezes are hilarious and love to hang upside down and let us blow zerberts on your tummy.

I don’t know what the next year holds for our little family. But no matter if we’re in a different house, if mommy gets a job that takes me away from you for part of the week or if we eventually end up giving you a brother or sister, know that you are our number priority. It is cliche, but true… everything we do is for you… to make sure that our lives are the best they can be for you.

Your father & I lay in bed every night talking about how amazing you are. You fill our hearts up with joy, pride and humility and I thank God for you every day.

Happy 10 month day Little M… you are my world.
